its not worth gettin an xbox now. all the games are all crap for the most part. The only game I liked was call of duty 2 , but.... its on a fuckin console. FPS are meant to be played on a keyboard and mouse configuration. all the other games look like shit. madden nfl football is boring and everything else just sucks. I'm waiting till january to buy one, (maybe)

I played CoD2 on the xbox, its cool, but the button layout was TERRIBLE. It was like they put the controls in place with the controller turned upside down.

PS3 is going to be 3x better than xbox 360. I got 360, and its good as shit, but PS3 will be way better. PS3 is running off their newly developed "cell" processor, which is apparently quick as shit. Also, PS3 will be runnin their games off the blueray discs which have like a 54 gig capacity. PS3 will prolly be like 5 or 6 hundred, and games 70 or 80 bucks a piece.

Then it will fail badly. The success of these machines is based on critical mass, which won't even come close at that price point. Sure, the 360 sold fast day one at its price point, but so will the PS3 to all the fanatics out there. But fanatics are a small niche market, not the Mom's, Dads, Grandpa's and Grandma's that have to be convinced to buy them for the kid, which are a huge part of any console market, just not the most vocal part. My store was located in a strip center with a popular game store. Believe me, most of their customers were Mom and the kids. They ain't buying no $500-600 machine, and they sure as hell ain't paying $70-$80 for a game.

Yeah, i just ran into that yesterday. My cousin was asking for a 360 or a 2nd playstation 2 (because his doesn't work...i've gotta look at it). My uncle was just looking at him like he had a 2nd head. No way that kids' gonna be getting another game system when he already has an xbox and a ps2. It would take ALOT of convincing to get my uncle to even think about it.

If the ps3 and it's accessories are much more than a couple hundred dollars and maybe 50 bucks for a game, they just wont sell. Most of the games for consoles just dont take enough time to finish to be worth much more than that. 50 bucks for a game is still an assload of cash. i'd much rather buy wow and spend 15 bucks a month. Either that or buy a new $50 game every 3 months.....i'd rather play WoW
Dammit, I shoulda been a night elf

The cell processor is very hard to develop for, Sony has yet to realize the power of making a easier to use Devkit

Blueray discs currently cannot exceed a 15-20gb disc as they cannot create the stacking technology that they said is theoretically possible to create a 100gb disc, they have yet to make even a 2 layer disc.

The high price for games is why piracy exists. Some games are fun but definately not even worth $20, so such a high price for games would be insane

Personally I'll just be getting a 360 for Oblivion unless I can get some major computer upgrades. Then the Ps3 for forthcoming FF games

On the contrary, the 360 was going for 1200-2000 on ebay regularly with each machine recieving 20+bids. Im sure people will buy the PS3.

For the fanatics, sure it will sell... But that doesn't make it successful. Hell, Betamax was 10 times better then VHS, but VHS won by sheer mass, because it was cheaper, for one. Believe me, if they want their boxes to sell millions, not just a few thousand fanatics, then it needs to be a lot less than $500.

Not to mention that the illusion of the 360 selling like hotcakes was an artificial demand created by Microsoft, which is all good, it's common practice and all three console developers do it. However, don't let it fool you.

I work for Gamecrazy, which is probably the only game specializing store still competing with Gamestop inc, or EB stop, (whatever they call themselves now). The 360 was not hard to sell to fanatics like Mikey was saying, but the families that came in asking questions about the system pretty much all turned away in disgust. Most end up getting a used or new GC, Xbox, or PS2. $400 is just too much, especially during the holidays for the majority of people... If you don't get the premium package, it turns out to be around $500-600.

Right now is a crappy time to buy a 360 because there are no titles worth buying. The only ones that are worth taking a look at are the 1st person shooters; and even they suck atm because there is no mouse/keyboard setup. I'm waiting out on buying an xbox360 for like 6months or so. By then there will be (hopefully) a shit load of titles and more package options to buy online. If you like nubbing fps with controllers, then by all means get the 360. I rather spend 600 bucks on a digital camera.

If you buy an xbox now, you either have alot of money or are incredibly stupid.

No offense
