Why is g.skill ripjaw series a choice for ram and what distinguishes g.skill from the other sorts of ram.

I'd say it has more to do with people going with what works. I went with the same ram Riggs went in his build for 2 reasons 1) it worked 2) I've never had issues with g.skill before. - it's more or less personal preference moreso than anything, as well as price. Sure there is better ram, but meh whatever.

In addition, it sometimes has something to do with the performance / CAS Timings on the RAM. Performance, Price, Brand name, durability/reliability on different memory manufacturers.
