verbim's going to the barrens!

...by which I mean africa :P

bought the plane tickets today, it's all official-like. I'll be helping the samburu people set up their own version of the USFS national parks out in the samburu national reserve. leaving this january for a little under a month (for now).

Africa gets alot of ecotourism - people going on safaris to see all the wildlife and such. Unfortunately, this disrupts natural grazing and daytime hunting of the poor gazelles and cheetahs and all. I guess that's where I come in 8) Gonna set up appropriate trails, designate certain areas off-limits, and train employees to enforce the rules. hopefully with some proper planning these areas will be around for future generations. last i heard, there are less than 50 rhinoceroses and cheetahs in this area :(

anyway, just wanted to share whats goin on. if I see those venture co. bastards I'll pwn them moonspam style for you guys :P

I predict Verb will find that economic pressures and corrupt local and national governments are leading to more poaching and pillaging in those places doing harm than tourists. Which actually makes me a little fearful for your well-being, Verb. Be careful over there.
