Maybe I owe you an update

Postby Bine on Sat Jul 09, 2005 2:55 am

So I got removed from the guild a few days ago, maybe some of you noticed, some of you didn't, and I think I should at least make a post for those who care.

I sent the long initial reason for my leaving to ZX in a PM a while ago, and it listed some of the things which drove me to leave, mostly concerning my unwillingness to raid and the fact that I thought BL was a little too impersonal.

The first reason is easy to interpret. I didn't like the entire concept of raiding and I really didn't like how much time it consumes.

The second reason might need some explaining. When I say that BL felt too impersonal, I mean that to me it felt sort of like an office where you work. I knew some people a lot better than others, and I'm glad I knew them; however, there were too many whom I didn't know anything about, yet I was somehow supposed to mantain a family mentallity towards them. So many people were just logging in for raids and nothing else that I felt like it was being percieved by others as work and BL was just becomming a vessel to achieve their gear e-peen success. Perhaps this is not true of anyone, I wouldn't know because I never saw them outside of MC to ask them.

I came to WoW from a very close knit FFXI guild, and that probably has more to do with my issues with the lack of "family spirit" than anything else. Mantaining unity and closeness between enough people to operate a strong raiding guild is difficult, and I suppose an effect of it is exactly what I felt. Perhaps I wasn't the most friendly person, I don't know, I tried to be. Yet so many of my attempts to be sociable were overlooked and ignored.

So thats it. I hope this doesn't look like a Stormcrow "I'm gonna split the guild apart with my insidious good bye message muahahahaha" rant, but thats the story. Good luck folks, have fun with BWL.

I've heard this before "Log onto WoW just to do MC" which is what hrmmm 6 hours? Sounds like a lot of play time to me. People are adults. People have jobs. People can't be on 24/7.

Wow, I keep hearing about how BL doesnt feel like a family anymore. No shit it doesn't Bine, you were inactive for what 2 fkn months? A lot happens in mmos in 2 months. If we were a business type guild you wouldve been gone 1.5 months ago, but we don't kick our our inactives, b/c they are just more than a body for MC. They are friends. If you seperate yourself from the family and they complain how it isnt a family it is nobody's fault but yours.

It's like your cousins that you see every 2-3 years for a couple of days... ya they are family but do they feel like it?

What Aries/daemon said. I can't speak for everyone but I know personally that you've never ever approached me at all.

Since there's like hundreds of people in BL (pun intended :P ) it's practically impossible to be BEST FRIENDS FOREVER with everyone.

for what you said about people logging on just to do MC for their loot e-peen i find it hard working 60 hours a week to play much i get home just in time usualy to get into the raid then i normaly have to leave about half an hour to an hour early to i can get up in the morning. it sucks and i cant wait till winter so i can play most of the day but intile then i cant and im sure others are the same way.
