mikey,

let's look at it another way....
why take more then 3 hunters, when others can out DPS them on the timed events?
by a lot mikey...200 extra damage per second from a mage is almost 50,000 extra damage.
that's 50,000 damage extra per mage, rogue, or warrior you bring in, instead of a hunter or lock.
on a timed event, again, why bring that 4th or 5th hunter?

using the best mix of tier2/AQ40/tier3 and items, should a warrior, who has 2x the hitpoints and 2x the armor as the same equiped hunter...OUT DPS THE HUNTER BY 200DPS!!!!
40% less damage then a warrior in a 3 min timed fight, makes for one lousy DPS class...thank god for tranq shot.

clearly, I can see in long fights like ebonroc, how when finished, I would only place in the top 3 (top5 on a bad day)...
I would take 1st, or 2nd to drakkar, but the longer the fight, the harder it is to maintain any lead a hunter takes.
after all, most have to hold back in the first few moments, but not hunters...take and hold that lead if you can, or you mana don't run out (it will).
go with a shorter fight like patchwork, and I ask you, how do you keep up?
no longer do mages and others need to HOLD BACK.

if even after the great work blizz did to tier3 hunter set pieces and related items, we hunters are still in the same boat, then no, I don't agree that blizz has made great effort to all classes when it's time to raid.

Finally, dumb raid leaders don't take into consideration that the 200 decrease in DPS you mention is pretty small in the big scope of things when fighting a mob with 100ks of HPs. With 40 people working a mob, the 200 dps isn't going to significantly change the outcome of the event. They also don't consider how the DPS must be applied. When doing Golemagg, for instance, 10 warriors are going to take 10x more mana to keep alive as they DPS than 10 hunters.

in some ways I agreewith you, but if I'm not mistaken, aggro or damage to warriors/mages/rogues is not a factor like it is with golemagg...and that is the point!!!
fury warriors, as well as rogues can go FULL OUT, BALLS TO THE WALL in damage with basicly no aggro in the fights I'm talking about...same with mages.

so again, why bring an extra hunter?
you don't truly need him for pulling.
tanq shot is filled by the 3 hunters.
traps work? lol
who feels like healing his pet, give me a show of hands?

while I agree it might be small potatoes to even think about damage against such mobs, BUT, just look at what it shows in damage growth for a class as compared to others.
if anything, what this shows is that hunters, as well as warlocks, HAVE NOT BEEN taken into consideration when balancing for damage over time in the items they can get.
in fact it clearly shows that hunters/locks are still getting left behind in progresion of items/armor to keep up with the rest of the classes.

sadly, yes, some stupid raid leaders are noticing the gap, and balancing around this.

above all, I hope this is NOT the case...yet even sparcs agrees that timed events are shit for hunters and locks.

Warkat/Harry
