VANGUARD IS NOT BY SOE.

Well... Sigil taking back ownership of V:SoH from Microsoft allows them to not have to answer to a publisher (if you note in the announcements, SOE is only going to act as a disbtribution/publishing *partner*, and not as the funding publisher of V:SoH). This allows Sigil to release the game "when it's done"; rather than "when it must ship", which is a good thing.
Of course, historically, publisher changes like this are usually linked with dissatisfaction of the product on the publisher's side - but Microsoft really doesn't seem to know what direction they want to go in the MMO arena.
Sigil obviously has raised some capital to be able to buy back the IP from Microsoft (of course, if MS was cancelling the title anyway, Sigil may have gotten it fairly cheap).
It is just important to note that SIGIL reaquired the publishing rights for Vanguard, and that SOE did nothing but agree to allow Sigil to publish the game through SOE's channels. This means that all of you Sigil/Vanguard fanboy's can relax, Brad and his "vision" is safe.

Here's the short version.
SOE has no control over anything. Not content, not the servers, not the schedule, nor customer service. ALL of this is being held within Sigil's domain. The ONLY thing SOE is providing is the co-publisher with us.
This change allows us to finish the game the way WE want to.
